Captain Bobo Book Reading
Youngsters will get the chance to join in the adventures of Captain Bobo when he’s all at sea and not even have to step off dry land.
A special reading by the authors of a new children’s book, The Adventures of Captain Bobo – Bananas is being held at Cardwell Garden Centre, on Sunday, December 10, between 2pm and 4pm.
And there will also be a Captain Bob-themed arts and crafts session for the children to enjoy.
Written by Greenock author, Kay Hutchison and Glasgow-born Richard Dikstra, the book is jam-packed with comic tales of wise old sea dog, Captain Bobo, his trusty and ever-faithful Scottie dog, Salty on board the paddle steamer, Red Gauntlet.
The illustrated book is aimed at children four years and older and is inspired by the River Clyde and the captains and crews who sailed in paddle steamers and ferries throughout the years.
Cardwell’s retail general manager, Paul Carmichael said: “We’re always trying to give our visitors something different to enjoy and this event is certainly something children will love.
“As well as hearing extracts from the book read by the authors, there’s a fabulous arts and crafts session planned as well.
“It will be a case of all aboard the good ship Cardwell for an afternoon of exciting tales of sea-going derring-do!”
