YOUNGSTERS have been given a helping hand to make their garden grow.

Big-hearted bosses at Cardwell Garden Centre have donated dozens of plants, bulbs and bags of compost to two local schools.

Now pupils at St Ninian’s and Moorfoot Primaries, in Gourock can get busy planting and learning how to become keen gardeners.

Depute head at St Ninian’s, Mrs Siobhan Currie said: “We’re very grateful to Cardwell for donating so much to our school’s gardening club.

“It’s great that Cardwell is supporting their local community.

“Our gardening activities run by one of teachers, Mrs Angela McAulay give pupils a great learning experience and they will certainly enjoy watching the plants grow.”

Cardwell’s retail general manager, Paul Carmichael said: “We’ve been a big part of the local community for many years and we always like to lend a helping hand when we can.

“We’ve also invited the two schools to come along to Cardwell in the near future to meet our gardening experts and I’m sure they’ll pick up plenty of tips from our knowledgeable staff.”
