Doggy ice cream is pawfect treat for your pet when they visit Cardwell

NORMALLY it’s the cat that gets the cream, but at Cardwell Garden Centre it’s dogs that are getting their very own ice cream!

The popular garden centre near Gourock has become even more dog friendly and now allows visitors to bring their dogs in with them if they keep them on a leash. Previously, it was only assistance dogs that were permitted.

And not only that, dog owners can buy their pooches their own specially-made canine ice cream.

The doggy ice cream contains supplements for help keep joints strong, Omega 3 oil for a glossy coat, Vitamin C for the immune system and Curcumin, which is a natural anti inflammatory.

Cardwell staff member, Faye Gillies brought her pet Labradoodle, Luna along to try out the new ice cream treat for dogs and she reckons it’s a pawfect treat for dogs

Explaining the decision to allow pet dogs into the garden centre – apart from the restaurant and food hall, where guide and hearing dogs are still allowed – Cardwell’s retail general manager said:

“We’ve always allowed assistance dogs into the centre, but over the past while we’ve had more and more visitors asking if they can bring their pet dogs into the garden centre along with them.

“So long as the dogs are kept on a lead and they aren’t brought into the restaurant or food hall, the pooches will be made very welcome.

“We’ll even provide a bowl of drinking water for the dogs on request and of course, we’re now stocking tubs of the specially-made ice cream for dogs as a treat for the pets.”
