Glasgow’s McTear’s Auctioneers at Cardwell
TELEVISION antiques expert Natasha Raskin Sharp is urging people to dig out some old artefacts and bring them along to a garden centre’s Valuation Day to discover what their worth.
The presenter of BBC’s Bargain Hunt will be at Cardwell Garden Centre, near Gourock, on Sunday October 15 between noon and 4pm.
Together with specialist valuers from Glasgow’s McTear’s Auctioneers, Natasha will offer valuations on art, jewellery, watches, coins, ceramics, silver and antiques of all types.
Natasha – who has also appeared on TV’s Antiques Road Trip, Flog It! and For What It’s Worth – is hoping people will bring along many different kinds of items for valuation and that she’ll help someone discover a valuable antique that they didn’t know they had.
She said: “It’s amazing what people have been hoarding away for years in attics and cupboards, or even displaying in plain sight on their mantelpieces and shelves. Sometimes they’ll have something really valuable that’s been handed down over the years and has been overlooked.
“That’s what makes these public valuation days so exciting – you just never know when someone will bring a little piece of treasure to you, not realising how much it’s worth. When a high value item is unearthed, the look on the owner’s face is, well, priceless.”
The Antiques Valuation Day, at Cardwell Garden Centre, will also raise money for charity, as the £3 charge for having two item values by Natasha or her colleagues will be split between Ardgowan Hospice and Children in Poverty Inverclyde charities.
Paul Carmichael, Cardwell’s retail general manager said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to meet a well-known antiques and art expert from television and to have something you own valued.
“You never know – an item that’s been lying in a cupboard for years might actually be a valuable antique, and worth a small fortune.
“We’re expecting lots of people to come along to meet Natasha and have their artefacts valued.”
