IF you want lots of family fun, then leek no further than Cardwell Garden Centre!
Once again we’re hosting the annual Strathclyde Leek and Onion Society Show, on Saturday, September 21 and Sunday, September 22, between 11am and 5pm.
Hundreds of entries from all over Scotland are expected for the horticultural extravaganza with some of the leeks on show up to three feet high.
And with free entry, crowds are expected to turn up to marvel at the enormous onions, colossal leeks and king-sized carrots among other vegetables, like potatoes, cauliflowers and beetroot that will be on show.
Green-fingered gardeners will have carefully nurtured their vegetables over the past nine months for the big day at Cardwell. Entries are from all over Scotland and enthusiastic gardeners have carefully nurtured the vegetables over the past nine months.
As well as the Leek and Onion Show, Cardwell will also host a family fun day with games like Hoopla, Hook A Duck and Feed The Clown along with a visit by the Little Critters petting zoo.
Young and old will be able to marvel at meerkats, hedgehogs, owls and reptiles and even get to handle the creatures
There will also be a barbeque, bouncy castle, scavenger hunt and face painting to add to the fun and games.
Cardwell’s retail general manager, Paul Carmichael said: “The Leek and Onion Show is one of our most popular events and this year’s will be even more special with the Little Critters coming along.
“So, once you’ve been amazed by the size of the giant vegetable on display, there is lots more to enjoy with our fun activities and the animals and birds that families can interact with.”
