We’re delighted to say that following the Scottish Government’s easing of lockdown restrictions, we’ll be re-opening Cardwell Garden Centre to the public every day between 10am and 4pm from Friday, May 29.
It seems like a long time coming, but we can’t wait to see all our customers old and new.
Since everyone still has to be extra vigilant during this coronavirus pandemic and our priority is the health, safety and comfort of our customers and staff, we’ve introduced some important measures when visitors come to Cardwell.
Most importantly, social distancing must be observed at all times and people should keep two metres apart from other customers and staff. There is plenty of signage to keep everyone right and we ask that customers follow the arrows on the floor that marks out a one-way system of getting round the centre.
Only a certain number of customers can be allowed into the garden centre at the same time and customers may have to queue in our car park – two metres apart, of course.
When you enter the garden centre you will be given a trolley with its handle sanitised by one of our staff and there’s a maximum of two people allowed in together and they should have only one trolley between them.
We’d also ask you to use the free hand sanitisers at the entrance and at other points inside the centre to clean your hands. Also, as recommended by the Scottish Government, people should wear a mask or face covering inside the garden centre.
We would also ask customers to avoid touching products as much as possible if they are not planning to buy them and not to loiter in the centre, as there are likely to be people waiting to get in. Unfortunately, due to the current situation, our staff will not be able spend the usual amount of time advising customers.
All our plants are either grown at Cardwell or come from Scottish suppliers, as we want to support the Scottish economy. And we’re continuing with our online ordering service with home delivery.
Unfortunately, the current lockdown rules mean we cannot yet open our Patio cafe and we’d ask customers not to enter areas of the centre that are closed and have been taped off.
When you have completed your shopping, please wait at the marked position in front of the till area before being called forward and then step back until you are asked to pay, which can only be done using credit or debit cards.
Perspex screens have been installed at the tills to protect both staff and customers.
It may seem an obvious thing to say, but if anyone is feeling unwell and showing symptoms of coronavirus, please don’t leave your home to visit Cardwell. You can still order online and we’ll deliver your goods to you
We hope you understand why we have these rules, as they are there to protect everyone. We may have to alter a few things as we go along, but we will keep you updated.
But at least we’re back open and there will be a warm – if socially distanced – welcome for everyone who visits us at Cardwell Garden Centre.
Thanks to everyone for your support during these unprecedented times. Stay safe, look after each other and enjoy your garden.
Stef, Drew and Kieran Gallagher and all at Cardwell
