Cardwell backs Countryfile TV show’s Get Planting challenge
THE team at Cardwell Garden Centre is encouraging everyone to take part in the BBC Countryfile telly show’s Plant Britain challenge.
Well-known presenters Matt Baker, John Craven and Helen Skelton, were among those on screen last week for a special edition of the show to talk about the ambitious project to get the nation planting trees, flowers, fruit and veg.
And the green-fingered gurus at Cardwell have pledged to offer advice to people who want to take part and get planting this summer.
The BBC website says Plant Britain is “an ambitious two-year challenge aimed at galvanising the nation to get planting.”
And added that no matter where you live, or how large or tiny a space you may have, taking part in the challenge will “help combat climate change and at the same time, boost our wellbeing and wildlife.”
Cardwell’s retail general manager, Paul Carmichael said: “The Plant Britain challenge is a fantastic idea and is something we fully support.
“Whether you have a huge garden or just a few window boxes, planting flowers, trees, bushes and vegetables is a great way to improve your well-being.
“And the more flowers and plants there are in our towns and cities, the more habitats we are creating for our wildlife, which are vital to our ecosystems.
“We’ve got all the essentials you need at Cardwell to get planting and of course, our expert staff are always on hand to give advice to the beginner or the already green-fingered expert gardeners.”
People taking part in the Countryfile challenge can log on to www.bbc.co.uk/send/u63648302 to add their plants to a BBC interactive nationwide map.
